Practical answers for owners.

How is this different from hiring a full-time COO?+
Cost, commitment, and timing. A full-time COO is a significant ongoing fixed cost and a long-term commitment. A fractional engagement gives you the same caliber of operational leadership with a built-in end date — the right answer if you're not yet sure you need a permanent COO, or if you do but want someone to scope and hire the role for you.
How is this different from a management consultant?+
Consultants deliver recommendations. We deliver outcomes. We're in your stand-ups, attending your leadership meetings, owning hires, and making decisions — not producing a deck and disappearing. The work is judged by what shipped, not by what was written.
What does the technology lens actually look like in practice?+
When we review your operation, we look at the systems and tooling alongside the people and processes. Where is data flowing, where is it stuck on someone's laptop, what's automated and what's still manual, what tools are you paying for that nobody uses, and where could AI or better tooling remove the bottleneck. That technologist's read tends to surface the operational drag that non-technical advisors miss.
How many clients do you work with at once?+
Three to four total, of which usually no more than two are full embedded engagements. This is a deliberate cap — the work depends on us being genuinely present, and the math doesn't work past four.
I'm already using AI tools. Do I still need a human operator?+
AI is a force multiplier, not a replacement for ownership. It will help you draft, summarise, analyse, and automate — but it won't sit in your leadership meetings, own a hiring decision, manage a difficult conversation with a team member, or take accountability when something breaks. The right setup pairs AI tools with a human operator who decides what to use them for. That's a lot of what we help with.
Can you work with companies outside Hong Kong?+
Yes. Our working hours overlap cleanly with US west coast evenings and European mornings. For embedded engagements we'd expect to be on-site once a quarter; for audits and advisory, the work is fully remote.
Do you sign NDAs?+
Yes, as standard. A mutual NDA is signed before the first paid call.
What happens at the end of the engagement?+
For embedded engagements, the final three months overlap with your full-time replacement, after which there's a built-in three-month advisory hand-off. Many owners roll into the monthly advisory package after that, but it's optional — the goal is for you to not need us.
Can you provide a bespoke service — a mix of those listed?+
Yes, we can work with any blend of the services above. Get in touch and we can discuss what works best for you.
